Gyoumei Himejima: Gyoumei is the tallest of the Hashira. Standing at 7'2. Now, height does not always equate dick size, but I'd be lying if said Gyoumei was not packing. His hands alone are about 7 inches wide when splayed open. So his dick is about 7.6 inches flaccid, but hardens to its full length of 10.7 inches with a 5 inch circumference. The large emerald is a part of the family Geometridae. The species was first described in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. Its common name references its color and size compared to other emerald moths. Its species name papilionaria is a reference to this moth’s butterfly like appearance according to Wikipedia. Adult moths rest with their wings angled and open like butterflies.

Description Newly emerged moths in this soecies are pale and dark green color with white patterned bands classed “fascia” which fades after a few days according to Wikipedia. The fascia change into broken lines of white, two on the hindwings and three on the forewings. However according to Butterfly Conservation, the large emerald is the one of the few emerald moths whose color does not fade.

Variations in color include:

ab. herbacearia Men.: the lines are “obsolete.” Orginally described as a separate species.

ab. cuneata Burr,: a large “web shaped” white spot in addition to the usual patterns.

ab. subcaerulescens Burr,: a more blue green color than normal.

ab. deleta Burr,: the “distal” (farthest from of the moths body) part of the moth’s white patterning is “obsolete.”

ab. subobsoleta Burr.: the white antemedian line one the foreign is “obsolete.”

ab. alba Gillm: the moth is entirely white and tinged with yellow.

Wingspan of 5.0 - 6.5 cm (≈2.36 - 2.56 in)

The larvae described as “rather stout, rugose” (corrugated) “the surface shagreened” (similar texture to a type of raw hide), “the head slightly notched, the setae” (bristle or hair like structures) “mostly with enlarged summits.” The larvae is a reddish brown when hibernating to match dead leaves and things and turns a green in the spring after hibernation.

Diet and Habitat This moth’s larvae feeds on birch, such as Downy Birch (Betula pubescens) and Silver Birch (Betula pendula), but also on Hazel (Corylus avellana), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), rowan, and possibly Beech (Fagus sylvatica).

This moth is present in the Palearctic region and the Near East. They inhabit deciduous forests, heathlands, marshland, in settlements close to woodland, grassland, well-established hedgerows, gardens, and parks.

Mating This species is seen flying at night from June to August in Britain. The egg is broad at one end and more flattened at the other with an oval like shape.

Predators These moths fly at night and are attracted to light. Adults occasionally fly in the tree tops on warm, sunny days. Larvae camouflage themselves during hibernation, being red-brown to match dead leaves and twigs and green to match spring leaves after hibernation. Not specific predators are listed.

I stumbled upon some long forgotten disk images stored on my computer, the actual disk images themselves date back from around 2008 when I was only a teenager. One of the disk images contains an installation of Macintosh System Software 7 which first debuted in 1991, but the version I have installed is 7.6.1, released in 1997. Here are just a few applications I have installed. Screenshots taken on Basilisk II, a Classic Mac emulator available on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Hopefully these photos are in order.

First screenshot at the top left is just a blank desktop with no running applications, except a window that says "About this Macintosh" which shows you how much memory individual applications are currently using. It even tells you how much memory the operating system is using, which is just a little over 2.5 MB. I decided to allocate 8 MB of RAM for the emulator but you can allocate more if needed.

Second screenshot located in the top center is from an application called Scrapbook, showcasing a graphic of the world's continents. A simple application to keep some of your favorite images or sound clips in. However, there was no true organization in Scrapbook so in order to find media in this program, you had to click the back and next buttons to view and find content, you couldn't categorize your media. Not all media and sound formats were supported, for instance dragging a JPEG wouldn't do anything. In the background is a Finder window showing various folder and application icons.

Third screenshot at the top right is Microsoft Word 5.0. No bloat, no nagging about subscribing to Microsoft 365, just productivity. This version dates back to 1991, making this version of Word older than I am!

Center-most screenshot is from one of the earliest web browsers available in the early 90s called NCSA Mosaic, showing a sample website that came bundled with the browser. Although it was not the first browser in existence at the time, Mosaic was instrumental in popularizing the internet to the masses. This version dates back to 1994, I was only two years old at the time and was unaware of the impact the internet would have in the world over the years. The browser eventually lost marketshare to Netscape, and Mosaic was discontinued in 1997.

Bottom photo is a screenshot from a simple dirt bike game called... Dirt Bike. Looks like this was developed by an independent developer. What else is there to say about it? You ride a dirt bike around and you can even create custom paths if you want to make the game even more exciting.

If this post gets decent traction, I'll get around to posting more screencaps of what I have in this disk image, even some of the schoolwork I did in it!

Instapaper Android 5.0: Article list redesign, improved reader settings, and many bug fixes

Today we’re launching Instapaper Android 5.0, which completely redesigns the article list view, improves reader settings, reintroduces Send to Kindle, and fixes a number of longstanding issues and bugs with the Android app.

Article List Redesign

In order to bring Android to parity with iOS and web, we’ve redesigned the list to include thumbnail images, and replaced the old dot progress indicator with estimated read times.

On tablet we have included thumbnail images, and also added the option to toggle between grid and list view to more closely match our other tablet experiences.

Please note that previously saved articles will not automatically show thumbnail images. If you’d like all of your articles to show thumbnails, you can redownload all of your articles by navigating to Instapaper Settings > Advanced > Redownload All Articles. We recommend doing this on WiFi and leaving Instapaper open to re-sync.

Improved Reader Settings

We tweaked the default font settings on the reader view for a more pleasant reading experience by default. In particular, we increased the default font sizes and line heights, and customized these for both Android phone and tablet.

Many people have requested to disable pagination animations on Android e-ink readers like Onyx Boox. In this release you can disable pagination animations by navigating to Instapaper Settings > Pagination Options > Pagination Animations (OFF).

We tested on our Onyx Boox, and it’s a big improvement!

Relaunching Send to Kindle

In late ‘23, there was an issue with sharing articles from Instapaper using the Android system share sheet. We fixed that issue, however, in the process it required us to remove Send to Kindle short-term.

With this release, we're bringing back Send to Kindle for individual articles on Android. Please note Send to Kindle on Android is only available with an Instapaper Premium subscription.

Many Fixes and Improvements

In addition to the above, we’ve also fixed a significant number of bugs:

Share All Notes now shares your highlights/notes in the order they appear in the article.

Saving to Instapaper from the share extension saves article description instead of article URL as the description.

Fixed transparent status bar issue on reader view.

Improved full screen transitions on reader view.

On the northern end of Shirahama Beach in Shizuoka Prefecture, two reefs extend into the sea, connected by a shimenawa rope (注連縄), crafted from rice straw or hemp. In this specific location, the rope serves to demarcate consecrated areas, acting as a talisman against evil and symbolizing the transition from the earthly world to the sacred one.

The reef on the right is named Daimyojin-Iwa, roughly translated as the "rock of deity with extraordinary spiritual powers." It features a torii gate facing the sea, directing its gaze towards the 10 islands located off the Izu coast.

The torii gate and sacred shrine rope are integral components of the nearby Ikona-hime-no-Mikotojinja Shrine, commonly known as Shirahama Shrine. This shrine holds the distinction of being the oldest Shinto shrine on the Izu Peninsula. Its theological focus revolves around the origin legends of the 10 Izu islands situated offshore.

The island gods and the deities housed within the shrine are interconnected within a complex familial web. This intricate relationship is reflected in the vermilion torii gate, which points seaward in the direction of the 10 islands.

The Japanese New Year festivities center around witnessing a sunrise and visiting a shrine with loved ones to express gratitude and seek blessings for the upcoming year. At Shirahama Beach, you can embrace both experiences – capturing a stunning sunrise and conveniently visiting the nearby Shirahma Shrine.
